Founder

Mary Jo Lockbaum, LEED AP, is the Principal and Founder of The Sustainability Group.  Over the course of her 15+ year career in the environmental and sustainability fields, she has served as a corporate Sustainability Manager, an Environmental Consultant, and an Environmental Regulatory Analyst.  She has been responsible for deriving increased economic value from improving environmental and social outcomes by leading the development and implementation of corporate social responsibility and sustainability policies and initiatives including alternative power, alternative fuel vehicles, recycling, composting, and green buildings.  She is practiced at driving sustainability throughout the supply chain and drafting policies, reports, press releases, and newsletters about sustainability initiatives.  She has been a lead auditor for ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) implementation, and led many projects related to pollution prevention, waste water, and hazardous waste/materials.  Mary Jo has worked with management teams at a variety of client organizations in the hospitality, financial, industrial, retail, and healthcare sectors, helping them incorporate sustainability considerations into daily decision-making.  She is adept at goal-oriented strategic planning and policy development, sustainability analysis and reporting, team and project leadership, public speaking, and training.  Mary Jo holds a BS in Biology from the University of Minnesota and an MBA from the University of St Thomas.
